Highlighting Lupus Research at Quinnipiac University: Meredith Haak and Julia Tamir's Studies

You Got This, Kid! Leadership Foundation is proud to focus on advancing lupus research by supporting medical students at Quinnipiac University. We proudly present the groundbreaking lupus research undertaken by two exceptional second-year medical students, Meredith Haak and Julia Tamir.

Meredith Haak's Research on Hydroxychloroquine Adherence

Meredith Haak's project tackles the issue of medication adherence among patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). Despite the known benefits of Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) in managing SLE, adherence rates vary widely. Meredith's retrospective study reviews patient records from the Yale New Haven Health System, seeking to understand patterns of HCQ monitoring, identify patients at risk due to low HCQ blood levels, and examine any trends in these levels over time. Her research is fundamental in improving adherence to HCQ among lupus patients.

Fundraising for Future Research

Meredith and Julia are in the midst of their capstone projects, essential for their medical degrees. To continue supporting their research, You Got This, Kid! Leadership Foundation is currently running a Giving Tuesday fundraiser. The funds raised will ensure that medical students at Quinnipiac University can continue their essential work in the fight against lupus. We invite you to join our effort and make a difference in lupus research and treatment.
