Advancing MS Research: Manav Jain’s Inspiring Summer Presentation

October 25th, 2024- Our grant recipient Manav Jain was selected to present the research that he is doing with Dr. Dhari at Trinity Health Of New England for Summer Research Poster Day. He was one of 2 students selected to deliver an oral presentation of their summer research prior to the poster session.

Manav shared that their Pilot study on humans has shown that BH4 levels are reduced in patients with Multiple Sclerosis. The mice studies have shown that BH4 supplementation in the presence of methotrexate can enhance Oligodendrocyte maturation which can then further help with myelination, improving their motor coordination. To build on these promising results, Manav and his team are currently enrolling more patients into the BH4 level measurement arm of their study to definitively prove that BH4 can be used as a biomarker for MS progression. Once this is completed, they can start looking into its role as a potential remyelinating agent in humans.

We are deeply inspired by Manav’s dedication and the impact his research has on the medical community and beyond. His work is a testament to the importance of supporting innovative minds dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by MS. We are honored to support Manav in his journey as he continues to break new ground and advance the understanding of this complex disease.
